Apple now uses Google servers to power some of its new and upcoming AI features, and the company is using a popup to notify and request user permission in both iOS 27 and iOS 26. Here are the details. New permission prompt added in iOS 27 and iOS 26 for data that’s sent to Google Cloud When Apple Intelligence first launched in 2024, one of its primary innovations had little to do with the features themselves, but rather the backend powering those features. Private Cloud Compute was widely praised by security experts for offering a new standard of security in…
Samsung has just confirmed the names of its upcoming wearable devices, expected to be unveiled on July 22 at its next Unpacked event in London. So, we unsurprisingly have the Galaxy Watch9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra2, but also the Galaxy Able. This is rumored to be Samsung’s first pair of clip-on earbuds, previously thought to launch as the Galaxy Buds Able. Now, the “Buds” in the name has been dropped. They are reportedly going to use bone conduction technology to reproduce sound, unlike the Galaxy Buds which have speakers. All of this information comes from the Galaxy Wearable app, which in its latest version…
Apple should see high demand for its as-yet-unconfirmed foldable iPhone Ultra but will likely struggle to produce enough of them, at least in the short term, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo writes in a Monday blog post. Kuo, who cites conversations he’s had with “carriers, sales channels and resellers,” expects Apple will only be able to make between 500,000 and 1 million foldables after an anticipated launch later this year. The disconnect between demand and production will be due mainly to the Ultra’s advanced design, which will likely mean manufacturing challenges similar to what Apple saw with the launch of the iPhone X in 2017,…
Meta Platforms said on Wednesday it will lease an artificial intelligence-enabled data center in India with 168 megawatts of capacity from billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries. Reliance Industries, whose broad conglomerate empire includes everything from petrochemicals to textiles and mass media, will build the data center for Meta and deliver the facility within two years, with an option to scale, the U.S. company said in a release. “This world-class facility in Jamnagar will help us scale our AI infrastructure globally while deepening our long-term investment in India’s economy,” said Mark Zuckerberg, founder and chief executive of Meta. Reliance’s partnership with Meta…
Apple reportedly has plans to release several new iPad Pros and a new MacBook Pro in the first half of next year. The company is currently working on four models of the new tablet with faster chips, Bloomberg reported. It is also developing a new “entry-level” MacBook Pro, which is internally referred to as K104, the outlet writes. The company is also targeting that same period for the release of its first M7 processor. The last time Apple released an iPad Pro was in October of last year. In March, the company released a new high-end MacBook Pro and the budget laptop MacBook Neo, albeit the…
South Korea on Monday laid out a sweeping industrial strategy centred on semiconductors and artificial intelligence, as President Lee Jae Myung unveiled over $576 billion in chip investment to secure global dominance and rebalance growth. The plan, anchored by Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, marks Lee’s boldest push yet to align South Korea’s AI and chip ambitions with his pledge to narrow domestic regional disparities and revive economies beyond the Seoul metropolitan area. Flanked by the chiefs of the world’s two biggest memory chipmakers, Lee cast the initiative as a “great leap forward,” centred on the “triple axis” of semiconductors,…

Apple plans to launch at least five new iPhone models between the second half of this year and the first half of 2027, while increasing production plans for foldable devices, as it looks to vie for a greater slice of the market amid an industrywide component supply shortage, Nikkei Asia reported Thursday. The U.S. tech giant has instructed suppliers to prepare to produce about 10 million foldable iPhones this year, up from an earlier forecast of 7 million to 8 million units, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter. Ahead of launching its first-ever foldable device, Apple has already secured…
