BookLanka.com Launches AI-Powered Travel Marketplace to Connect Traveller Intent with Sri Lanka’s Tourism Experiences

The platform turns traveller intent into personalised, bookable journeys while helping Sri Lankan accommodation providers, tour operators and experience providers connect with international travellers.

    • BookLanka.com brings accommodation, transfers, activities, experiences and curated holiday packages together around the traveller’s complete Sri Lankan journey.
    • Trixy AI is designed to understand traveller intent, recommend relevant options and connect travellers with real-time bookable inventory.
    • The platform creates another route for Sri Lankan tourism suppliers to reach international travellers and participate in the digital travel economy.

Planning a holiday in Sri Lanka can still mean moving between different platforms to find accommodation, arrange transport, discover experiences and piece together an itinerary. BookLanka.com has officially launched with a different approach: bringing the journey together through an AI-powered, intent-based travel marketplace designed to make discovering, planning and booking Sri Lanka more seamless.

The platform connects travellers with accommodation, transfers, activities, experiences and curated holiday packages across Sri Lanka. Rather than treating each element of a trip as a separate transaction, BookLanka is built around the traveller’s complete journey; from deciding what kind of holiday, they want to experience to turning those preferences into a bookable itinerary.

At the centre of this approach is Trixy AI, BookLanka’s AI-powered travel assistant. Trixy is designed to understand traveller intent and connect it with relevant experiences and bookable inventory. A traveller can describe the type of Sri Lankan holiday they are looking for, receive personalised recommendations, explore available options and move towards booking through the same ecosystem.

This approach addresses a familiar challenge in Sri Lankan travel planning: fragmentation. Travellers may need to search separately for places to stay, transport and things to do, while smaller local tourism businesses can face limited digital visibility and difficulty reaching international travellers. BookLanka aims to create a digital layer between the two, making Sri Lanka’s tourism offering easier to discover and book while helping local suppliers connect with global demand.

The launch comes at a time when Sri Lanka’s tourism sector is focused not only on visitor volumes, but on the value generated from each visit. Sri Lanka recorded 1,609,759 tourist arrivals from 1 January to 14 September 2026, according to SLTDA data, while tourism earnings reached US$2.06 billion during the first eight months of the year. Against this backdrop, BookLanka is focused on making Sri Lanka easier to discover and book, while creating stronger digital connections between international travellers and Sri Lankan tourism businesses.

BookLanka’s offering spans stays, airport and ground transfers, wildlife and nature experiences, cultural activities, excursions and curated holiday packages. The platform is designed for travellers with different budgets and travel styles, while giving local accommodation providers, tour operators, guides and experience providers another channel through which to reach customers.

Sushena Ranatunga, Co-Founder and Director of Creative Software, said: “Tourism is one of the few industries where Sri Lanka can compete globally on the strength of what we already have: our landscapes, our culture and our people. BookLanka is about using technology to make that value easier for the world to discover and book, while creating more opportunities for local tourism businesses to participate directly in the digital travel economy.”

Asma Cader, Director-Marketing at Creative Software, said: “BookLanka is about strengthening how Sri Lanka is discovered and considered by international travellers in an increasingly digital and AI-driven travel landscape. Our ambition is to turn that global interest into real tourism opportunities, connecting more travellers with Sri Lankan experiences and helping more local tourism businesses benefit from the country’s growing digital visibility.”

Kaushalya Hemarathna, Senior Tech Lead at Creative Software, who leads the team behind the platform, said: “We built BookLanka around the way people actually think about travel. A traveller does not think about accommodation, transport and experiences as isolated products; they think about the trip they want to have. Our goal is to connect that intent with real options and make the journey from inspiration to booking much more seamless.”

BookLanka is also developing its AI capability around a simple journey: ask naturally, receive a personalised plan, compare available options and move towards confirming the trip. This intent-driven approach is designed to complement the platform’s growing inventory and make Sri Lanka’s tourism ecosystem more intelligently discoverable and bookable.

BookLanka.com is an associate company of Creative Software Pvt Ltd and is registered with the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
