Xtellig: Taking Innovations from Northern Sri Lanka to the Global Stage

Founded by Jarachanthan Ratnakumar and Venukan Kanthasamy two years ago, Xtellig was established with a simple vision: To help businesses solve real-world challenges through intelligent technology while demonstrating that world-class software can be built from Northern Sri Lanka.

Xtellig helps startups and enterprises transform ideas into scalable digital products. From product strategy and intuitive User Interface and User Experience (UI/UX) design to software development, deployment, and long-term support, Xtellig focuses on creating technology that generates measurable business value.

“Technology should never add complexity to a business. It should simplify operations, improve productivity, and create opportunities for growth,” Xtellig  CEO Jarachanthan Ratnakumar told Techie.lk.

Over the past two years, Xtellig has worked with clients across Sri Lanka, the United States, and the United Kingdom, developing custom web applications, mobile apps, enterprise systems, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), quality assurance solutions, automation testing, and cloud-based software.

The company’s approach goes beyond writing code. Its engagement begins by understanding the client’s business, industry, and operational challenges before recommending technology. Rather than simply delivering software, Xtellig positions itself as a long-term technology partner that helps organizations increase revenue, reduce operational workload, and embrace digital transformation.

“Before we build anything, we first understand the real problem. Our responsibility is not just to deliver software. It is to deliver the right solution,” Jarachanthan said.

Xtellig has worked with businesses that lack structured operational systems. Xtellig develops tailored Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) modules, employee management systems, business portals, and mobile applications that streamline everyday operations and improve decision-making.

Among its international portfolio are projects involving company management platforms, employee management systems, recruitment portals, and reporting solutions for overseas clients. In Sri Lanka, Xtellig has partnered with leading businesses, including one of Jaffna’s largest rice producers, where it developed organizational development and employee management systems.

Alongside its client services, Xtellig is also investing in its own products. Its flagship SaaS platform, Autosocializer, was created to address one of today’s biggest workplace challenges: Managing too many disconnected tools. The platform simplifies work by combining automation, collaboration, and AI-powered productivity into a single experience designed for startups and growing businesses.

The company is also contributing to the developer community by building open-source projects and developing NPM packages, including tools that will help automate website auditing.

Innovation is only one part of Xtellig’s philosophy. The team also prioritizes quality, agility, and continuous improvement. By adopting iterative development practices, rapid feedback cycles, and robust engineering standards, Xtellig enables clients to launch products faster while maintaining long-term scalability and reliability.

Looking ahead, the founders envision Xtellig becoming a globally recognized technology company built from Sri Lanka. They plan to expand internationally, strengthen their software services, invest further in AI-driven products, and continue creating opportunities for talented engineers across the country.

For Jarachanthan, the company’s growth is closely connected to the future of Sri Lanka’s technology industry.

“More than 30 IT companies are now based in Jaffna. Talent has always been here. Today, with AI accelerating development and global demand for digital solutions continuing to grow, we have an incredible opportunity to compete with established technology hubs in the world. Our biggest responsibility is consistently delivering quality products on time. If we continue to do that, Sri Lanka can become a globally respected technology destination,” he said.
