HP reinfrced its long-term commitment to Sri Lanka’s digital transformation journey at a recent media roundtable led by Ipsita Dasgupta, SVP and MD, HP India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. Ipsita outlined a five-pillar strategic framework focused on expanding access, accelerating digitization, and enabling inclusive growth across the region.
“Sri Lanka is one of our fastest-growing markets in the region and reflects the ambition, resilience, and digital potential we see across emerging economies. As we deepen our presence here, we are committed to expanding access to technology, supporting MSMEs, partnering with government, and enabling the next generation of users who will drive Sri Lanka’s digital future,” said Ipsita Dasgupta.

    Five Strategic Pillars

    1. Putting a PC in the Hands of Every Child
HP aims to boost PC ownership among all socioeconomic groups, to bridge the digital divide. With PC access in South Asia remaining significantly lower than developed markets, HP aims to drive adoption across households and educational HP is also exploring AI-driven, language-enabled capabilities on devices to support personalized learning experiences and improve educational outcomes, particularly for students in underserved communities.

    1. Empowering MSMEs Through Digitization and AI
Acknowledging the vital contribution of MSMEs to Sri Lanka’s economy, HP is supporting small and medium enterprises in their digitization journeys. By enabling AI on the edge, bringing advanced computing and data processing capabilities directly onto devices, HP aims to help MSMEs improve efficiency, enhance security, reduce latency, and unlock higher productivity and profitability.

    1. Partnering with Local Enterprises for Technology Transformation
HP is strengthening its engagement with local businesses to support long-term growth and competitiveness. Beyond hardware, HP is increasingly involved in broader conversations around technology modernization, workforce enablement, and future-of-work strategies. By helping organizations create seamless, low-friction work environments, HP is enabling them to attract and retain emerging talent.

    1. Collaborating with Government on National Priorities
HP is actively exploring partnerships with government bodies to support key areas of national development, including healthcare, education, skilling, employability, and MSME growth. From AI-led healthcare diagnostics to scalable digital education models, HP is evaluating proof-of-concept initiatives that can drive measurable impact and expand access to essential services.

    1. Enabling the Next Billion Users
Positioning emerging markets at the centre of its growth strategy, HP views countries like Sri Lanka as critical to shaping the future of technology adoption globally. By building solutions tailored to high growth, developing economies, HP aims to unlock the next wave of digital users and drive sustainable, inclusive innovation.

HP currently holds approximately 27% market share in Sri Lanka (Q4 2025, IDC) and continues to see strong demand across banking, financial services, retail, manufacturing, and the MSME segment.
