Huawei Unveils Three Key Values of 5G-A Mobile Transport to Solidify the Foundation for 6G Evolution

During MWC Barcelona 2026, Huawei will comprehensively upgrade to its mobile transport solutions. The upgrade focuses on green ultra-broadband, suppression awareness, and network autonomy to adapt to the new requirements posed by new service scenarios as networks evolve from 5G to 5G-A and 6G.

Currently, more than 20 countries worldwide have allocated the U6G spectrum band to mobile communication networks. Leveraging its capabilities of large bandwidth and wide coverage, the new U6G band enables 5G-A services to achieve ultimate rate performance and enhanced user experience. 5G-A provides ultra-high-speed connectivity to better satisfy business needs for mobile XR and cloud-based immersive collaboration, with user experience rates reaching over 10Gbps.

This will drive a tenfold growth in transport network traffic, necessitating an increase in the basic bandwidth capacity of mobile transport. Traditional mobile transport networks feature complex topologies with mixed deployments of microwave and fiber links—including ring, long-chain, and star topologies—which are susceptible to bandwidth fluctuations due to weather conditions. Localized traffic growth leads to congestion, which deteriorates user experience and impacts user Data Usage (DoU).

To address the aforementioned challenges, Huawei will release a new generation of 5G-A mobile transport solutions, featuring three key capabilities and value propositions:

    1. Green Ultra-Broadband, Reducing TCO by 30%: The new series of base station routers provides 10GE/25GE to the site, 100GE for access ring, and is capable of evolving to 400GE, adapting to the long-term development of 5G-A and U6G. By deeply integrating energy-saving technologies, the solution achieves lossless service performance and optimal power consumption, saving approximately 3 million kWh of electricity for a deployment of 1,000 devices over three years.

    1. Congestion Awareness, Releasing 100% of Network Value: The solution features built-in traffic congestion awareness. Combined with SRv6 and NCE intelligent management and control, it can identify congestion points and automatically generate optimization and expansion recommendations. By unleashing suppressed traffic, it enhances user experience and helps operators increase user Data Usage (DoU) by over 20%.

    1. Network Autonomy, Improving O&M Efficiency by 20%: Utilizing built-in OTDR capabilities and Self-Diag algorithms to sense fiber faults, the solution achieves minute-level fiber break detection. This avoids frequent manual site visits and improves fault location efficiency by 20%.

Huawei’s new generation of 5G-A mobile transport solutions will help operators build mobile transport networks with optimal TCO, monetizable network capabilities, and efficient operations and maintenance. This will assist in building Agentic MBB and seizing new opportunities in the AI era. Looking toward future 6G evolution, Huawei will continue to innovate around directions such as ultra-high bandwidth, ultra-high clock precision, and deterministic ultra-low latency. The new generation transport network is designed to be compatible with future evolution requirements, securing long-term investment returns for operators while supporting the current commercial monetization of 5G-A.
